Located in the Dumfries and Galloway region of Scotland, Lockerbie is a town of just over 4000 people. It is about 74 miles from Glasgow and 20 miles from the border with England. You won't have any difficulty getting to Lockerbie because it has a train station and it is just off the A74 Motorway.

So Lockerbie is a destination that is easy to reach as the Market Town is situated on the main road and rail network with M74 Motorway running alongside with junctions 17 and 18 at either end of the town. The main line railway carries the West Coast Train line from the South of England to Glasgow and Edinburgh with Lockerbie being the first stop in Scotland. Lockerbie is full of surprises with more than 40 visitor attractions close by including Castles, Battlefields, Historic Homes, Landscapes plus many more.

Lockerbie is most famous as being the site of the crash of Pan Am Flight 103. A bomb that had been planted in the aircraft exploded over Lockerbie, killing all the passengers and crew. 11 people from the town were also killed as a result of the crash. There are several memorials to this event, such as the stained glass windows in the Council Chambers. You can read the Book of Remembrance in the Memorial Room at Tundergarth. The Garden of Remembrance at the cemetery just outside of Lockerbie is another memorial to this tragic event.
